...Passport Control Guy
So... have been a bit rubbish on the face front. A full on couple of weeks with plenty time for 1 minute doodling but not uploading - BUT am now southward bound on train after another splendid scottish weekend with a bit of time to kill so... first face up comes from another journey from a couple of weeks back. Boarding a flight to Amsterdam, my passport checker person avec enormous grey bristle tach. Like, a seriously wirey number, with Doc Brown BTTF hair. Another starer as well. Guess that was his job.

...sadface
He really did look very sad. Or maybe I was just hungover. On the up side - my mac's ready for repair - yay! Happy long weekend folks.

...Richard
Since going freelance, I find myself in Starbucks a stupid amount which is curious only in that I don't like coffee that much. But I do like people watching and I've met a lot of great characters over the last 2 years. They'll definitely be making an appearance here but for now, here's a new one - Richard. I know this cos he held his finger up (like this) when they called his coffee. Its nice to put a name to a face and I have to admire a man who perseveres with a comb over. Have to be honest that this wasn't so much a full classic comb over as a thin on the ground shlappy do but let's not be picky.

...Wagaman
So today started badly with another visit to apple for the 4th repair on my macbook. Strangely, since they made one repair, I’ve needed three more – this time the entire motherboard. JFC.
It seemed a good time to go drown my sorrows, nay my entire face in a bowl of noodles which is where I met wagaman. Big head, bigger glasses, small body, long shorts, some kind of pictish symbol hanging round his neck – sterofit Wagamama. Anyway – he has the dubious honour of being the first Today’s Face. Congratulations Wagaman.
Get quick, stop pissing about...
So I guess this is the start. I'm a designer, pattern maker, doodler, dog fancier and all round fan of colouring in. I create, design and art direct for a bunch of different clients and am pretty happy with what I do and how I do it. That said, when it comes to my own work, I realised this year I am developing an irritating habit of labouring, over thinking, fine tuning and otherwise pissing about with a piece to avoid pressing the finish button. Curses etc. So in an effort to loosen up, curb my undo addiction and get drawing, I'm starting with faces. 1 minute, 1 take, 1 a day no going back faces, with the help of Paper by 53 for iPad. I'm giving myself 3 tools, 5 colours, no undo's and around a minute per piece. Haven't drawn a portrait since I left college but I like people watching and so a bit of face fun self help shouldn't be too taxing. So, here goes my one year faces project - Today's Face - wish me luck!
